Designers say these kitchen designs are outdated
Metallic finishes, dark granite, and island layouts have been trending for years, but it might be time to reconsider your choices. Designers are tired of these designs:
The Overuse of Metallic Finishes
Metallic finishes tend to dominate a small space like a kitchen, particularly if you used more of them than you should have. They’re cold, clinical, and outdated, so if your kitchen doesn’t feel cosy, it’s time for a kitchen refurbishment. Industrial design is out.
Double Islands Double islands never looked quite right. They were intended to look opulent, but they created unnecessary barriers. If you’re dodging and weaving around your kitchen, you probably need an update.
Black Marble
Marble is fashionable right now, and so are dark colours. If you combine them, though, you will create too much heaviness. This year’s kitchens are airy and warm. Black marble is the opposite, so may be time for a kitchen refurbishment.
Retro Fridges
If your fridge looks like it came straight out of the Seventies, it might be time to replace it. Built-in fridges are sleek, modern, and fashionable. You can even hide yours behind faux cabinet doors. If you want a splash of bright colour, save it for smaller areas like backsplashes.
Wall to Wall, Floor to Ceiling Cabinetry
If you have cabinets covering every wall of your kitchen, it probably feels boxed-in and dense. Nobody needs that much structure.
The best kitchens look like home. They’re supposed to feel snug and warm, not sterile. Consider upgrading to a less aspirational space.
