Facebook takes advantage of the summer to boost its mobile advertising
This summer is emerging as the perfect time for mobile advertising, because for those who go on vacation, smartphones are almost as important as the sunscreen. The mobile phone has become a very personal device, which keeps people connected wherever they go. They use it to keep in touch with friends and family, to share experiences and moments … and now on these vacation dates, more than ever.
According to a recent study by eMarketer, during the year 2013, 59% of Internet users will Facebook. In fact, Facebook is so popular that almost every social networking user in accessed the platform last year, according to IAB data.
Cell phone use is quite high, as shown eMarketer, which estimates that the 86.1% of the population will have a mobile phone in 2013, of which 47.5% will be smartphone users and 50% will access To Internet from the mobile. As a consequence, the mobile use of social networks is also quite common. Ofcom points out that in October 2012, 43% of mobile phone owners were social networking users, a higher percentage than in any other EU-5 country. On the other hand, July 2012 data from comScore showed that 35.8% of mobile users had surfed social networks or blogs. Only British users exceeded this percentage, with 41.8%.
A study carried out in June 2012 by IAB, Google, The Cocktail Analysis and La Catedral Online de las Nuevas concluded that smartphone users in were accessing the same social networks used by the social networks in the country: The 90% of smartphone users went to Facebook, 48% used Twitter and 36% Tuenti.
