Six Common Boiler Issues and How To Resolve Them

Boilers are a key part of any home. Below are six of the most common boiler issues.

1. Lack of hot water or heating

There can be numerous reasons for this, including boiler faults and interruption of the power or water supply. The first thing to do is ensure all power, gas and water supply is working. If this is the case, then the issue is likely to be with the boiler itself and it is worth getting an engineer to come and investigate.

2. Hot water isn’t getting hot enough

The first thing to check here is the flow temperature. This should be set between 60°C and 70°C. If it is set below this level, then increasing it should resolve the issue. If it is in this range, but the water does not feel as hot as you think it should be, there are probably other problems that need to be looked at by a professional.

3. Low Pressure

Inefficiency in the system can be caused by low pressure. A pressure gauge that has dropped into the red indicates that you will need to top up the pressure. This is usually fairly easy to do.

4. Strange Odour

If you notice a weird smell coming from your boiler, this can indicate a gas leak. You should open your windows, turn off the gas entirely, and contact the relevant National Gas Emergency service for your area.

There are a number of boiler specialists in the Evesham area who can offer advice and services when it comes to Evesham boilers. Many of these also have useful online resources, such as the examples seen here: https://www.combi-man.com/boiler-finance/boiler-finance-evesham.

5. Boiler switches itself off

This is usually a built-in safety feature. If it keeps happening, then it is likely there is a major fault somewhere, and you should contact an engineer to come and do an inspection.

6. Loud noises

These can be caused by obstructions in the pipes or faulty parts. If it lasts for a while, it is worth calling an engineer to investigate.
