Student Essentials
This summer is an exciting time if you are getting ready to go to college or uni for the first time. Living independently and being able to do things on your own is both nerve-wracking and exhilarating so to make things easier, here is a list of the essentials you need to pack to make your move as stress-free as possible:
Documents
It is boring but important, nonetheless. Make sure you take with you all the documents you’ll need for the first few heady days of registering. You need your:
Passport or Driving Licence
Acceptance letter from college
Terms and contract for your accommodation. For Cheltenham Student Accommodation, visit a site like https://www.yourperfectpad.com/
Set 4 passport photographs
Your debit card (obviously)
Scholarship or student loan documents
NHS number and any discount card for travel
Stay connected
Of course, you’ll have a laptop or computer to type all the important essays, an ethernet cable and your mobile phone and charger! Are you taking a printer? Small TV and TV license and USB TV stick will also be useful for all TV programs during the day you can now watch!
Cook
As much as you might be happy living on junk food, it’s not cheap nor that good for you. Get yourself a student cookbook with cheap and easy recipes. Other useful equipment includes saucepans, frying pans, baking trays, cutlery, glasses, mugs, plates and bowls.
Sleeping
If you’ve never made a bed before, now might be a good time to get in some practice as this is your responsibility now. You’ll need sheets, duvet covers and pillowcases for beginners. A blanket and pillow are important, as is an alarm clock so you never miss those 9am lectures!
